Start with the ideas that later chapters use.
If Class 11 physics feels different from Class 10, take it one step at a time. Learn what each quantity means before trying to use it in a difficult numerical.
Alongside physics, practise algebra, trigonometry, graph reading and vector components. Learn the basic meaning of a derivative as a rate of change and an integral as accumulation when your lessons introduce them.
- Units and MeasurementsWork on SI units, dimensions, significant figures and measurement errors. Check the units of every final answer.
- Motion in a Straight LineSeparate distance from displacement and speed from velocity. Learn to read position-time and velocity-time graphs.
- Vectors and Motion in a PlanePractise resolving vectors into components before projectile motion. Keep directions and signs clear.
- Laws of MotionDraw the forces on one body. Choose axes, then apply Newton's laws. Include friction only when the situation calls for it.
- Work, Energy and PowerLearn when the work-energy theorem or conservation of mechanical energy is useful. State the conditions before applying a formula.
This is my suggested foundation-first sequence, not an official compulsory order. Continue with the remaining Class 11 topics and the full Class 12 syllabus. Check the separate JEE Main and JEE Advanced syllabi for your target year.
Read. Solve. Explain. Return.
- Read one small topic in NCERT. Notice definitions, diagrams, assumptions and worked examples. Ask what each symbol represents.
- Try an example without looking. Write the given information, draw a diagram and decide which principle applies. Then compare your steps with the solution.
- Build from direct questions to linked ideas. Start with straightforward chapter problems. Then try syllabus-matched JEE Main questions. For Advanced preparation, work on problems that require you to connect ideas and choose a method, rather than follow a familiar pattern. Add timed sets after you can solve carefully.
- Keep a mistake notebook. Was the error in the concept, a sign, algebra, units or reading the question? Write the reason, not just the correct option. Retry the question later without the answer.
Before each study session, revisit a few earlier mistakes. Consistent review is more useful than collecting pages of solutions you never attempt again.
Don't confuse recognition with understanding.
- Memorising a formula without its conditions. The constant-acceleration equations are not a rule for every kind of motion.
- Watching a solution and calling it practice. Close it and solve the question yourself. Explain why the other options fail.
- Ignoring graphs, signs or units. A numerical answer is incomplete if its direction or unit is wrong.
- Jumping between too many books. Complete and review one resource before adding another.
NCERT first. Add practice with a purpose.
Use your Class 11 NCERT Physics books to build the concepts and worked-example habits. Then add a suitable problem set, including previous JEE questions, matched to the exam you are preparing for. Main and Advanced have separate syllabi. No book is a guarantee of a rank.
If you want to explore my books, the Science Tutoring bookshelf includes Physics, Finally Clear - Crack It for Class XI in English, with Hindi and Bengali editions, and the TESTBED JEE Main and Advanced Physics series in four volumes. Choose for your current stage rather than buying everything at once.

Use a concept book alongside your lessons. Use practice papers to identify gaps and revise, rather than to replace learning the chapter.

At Science Tutoring in Baruipur, my approach is concepts before memorisation, followed by numerical practice and work on doubts. Bring a chapter, a question you could not finish, or a step you could not explain. That gives us a useful starting point.
Tell me your class, board and target exam when you call. We can discuss your preparation and confirm current timings, fees and availability directly.

A few common questions.
Which physics chapter should I start with for JEE in Class 11?
Start with Units and Measurements, motion in a straight line, vectors and motion in a plane, and Laws of Motion. Build the maths tools alongside these topics. This is a foundation-first suggestion, not an official compulsory order.
Should I follow the same syllabus for JEE Main and Advanced?
No. Check the separate official syllabi for JEE Main and JEE Advanced for your target year. Many foundations overlap, but the scope is not identical.
Should I start with very difficult problems?
Start with worked examples and direct questions you can explain. Then move to questions that connect ideas. If you cannot choose a principle without a solution, return to that concept before adding speed.
Check the official material.
The sequence above is teaching guidance. Topics were checked against the official JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2026 syllabi. For a later exam, check both syllabi issued for that year rather than assuming they are unchanged.
